Murder Mystery

This one-page website designed for an assignment where we were required to create a fictional event site. The finished one page website needed to be responsive to desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. We were also asked to have two tasks within our websites for users to complete. The project required the integration of interactive components to enhance user engagement and learning.

I chose to create a murder mystery event because this kind of event is very interactive and is something that can build up a lot of anticipation. I created slightly different than a normal mystery party. In this event participants would all be submitting an RSVP with their names and the character they will be for the event. There are eight characters that are possible for people to play, each with their own background laid out through the website and clues they get based off of the character they will be once they RSVP. The event is designed so that multiple people may have the same character and information, so everyone can work to figure out the murderer and accomplice or to hide their crime.

With this I decided to do three tasks for my website rather than the required two. The first task is a character quiz where the user gets a suggested character to RSVP as based off of their responses. The second task comes after getting all the information about the event, users are asked to make an initial accusation of how the murder happened. The last task is where the users can RSVP, upon completing this last task they are given a downloadable RSVP image showing their name, their initial accusation, their selected character, their character’s role and clues specific to their character.
